Link Wentworth transfers award-winning Neighbourhood Jobs to Active Care Network

Link Wentworth is excited to announce that its social enterprise Neighbourhood Jobs (NJ) has transferred to Western Sydney-based community service provider Active Care Network. As part of the transfer, four staff and trainees have relocated to Active Care Network with the ongoing support of Link Wentworth.

The Neighbourhood Jobs program commenced in 2018 with a significant grant from the NSW Government as well as additional subsidy from Wentworth Community Housing (now Link Wentworth). During the first two years of the program, Neighbourhood Jobs trained, employed and supported more than 60 young people who were at risk of homelessness. At the end of 2020, the funding program which had supported NJ to develop ended.

As an established community service provider, Active Care Network is better positioned to provide a sustainable home for the Neighbourhood Jobs model and secure its future as an important program for disadvantaged young people.

Moving forward, Link Wentworth will remain a key partner of Active Care Network and Neighbourhood Jobs by actively supporting the design of the next iteration of the program and providing financial assistance in the first couple of years to ensure it remains viable.

“It is refreshing to witness Link Wentworth’s commitment and investment in young people,” says Active Care Network CEO Ben Jackson. “I have never worked with an organisation so generous to ensure the success of the future”.

Of the transfer, Link Wentworth CEO Andrew McAnulty says, “It has been a pleasure to work with Ben and the team at Active Care Network and I am proud that we have found a home for Neighbourhood Jobs to develop and thrive. Under Active Care Networks’ stewardship, NJ will continue to deliver positive employment outcomes for young people and deliver quality services to customers.”
