Link Wentworth Chair, Mike Allen PSM has just been announced as one of the winners of the Local Celebration Awards held by Penrith City Council.
While a relatively recent resident of Penrith, Mike has been presented with the 2021 Community Service Award for his long-term work in social housing and his various community positions for organisations that have Penrith within their catchment areas.
As well as being the chair of Link Wentworth, Mike is the Deputy Chair of Afford Disability Services as well as being Chair of local not-for-profit Leep for four years from 2015. He is also a Board Member of the national organisation Aboriginal Hostels Limited and the NSW Aboriginal Land Council Housing Limited.
Another area of Mike’s community service is as the volunteer handyman for The Haven Nepean Women’s Shelter, an organisation dedicated to protecting and empowering women and children. Mike believes everyone deserves a safe haven, which is one of the reasons he is being recognised for making a difference with the 2021 Community Service award.
Mike is a respected industry leader, independent housing advisor and former Chief Executive of Housing NSW with over 30 years of experience in social housing management. He has a strong commitment to the values and principles of social housing and providing high quality housing services for those most in need.
We are privileged to have Mike as the Chair of Link Wentworth and congratulate him on this well-deserved Award.
